What is CrossFit?

CrossFit, as defined by its CEO Greg Glassman, is constantly varied functional movements executed at high intensities. It is a program that combines different types of fitness that include, but are not limited to, Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Powerlifting, Kettle Bell Sport, Endurance Training, and others.
The system is primarily a community of fitness where one's goals become more achievable through the cause of an entire group of individuals. Guiding this community are CrossFit trainers who pursue continuous development and certification to further improve their craft and capability to improve the daily lives of their members and athletes.
Fitness, by our definition, is increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. In a nutshell, our idea of fitness is that each person is able to do more work and exert more effort in either short or long durations, regardless of what it is they are doing.
As Greg Glassman said, "The magic is in the movement, the art is in the programming, the science is in the explanation, and the fun is in the community."
